[CES 2026] Unveiling Ultra Lightweight, Flame-Retardant Materials in the US—So Light They Could Float on Air!

Presenting the outcomes of the "Aichi Priority Research Project V" to the global stage

We are proud to announce our participation in CES 2026, one of the world's largest technology trade shows, held in Las Vegas starting January 6, 2026. As a key member of the "Aichi Priority Research Project V"—an industry-academia-government collaboration led by Aichi Prefecture—we have been developing ultra-lightweight components for aerospace applications. At this exhibition, we will unveil these innovative achievements to the world for the first time, with the goal of identifying strategic partners for global commercialization.

Exhibition Background & Innovative Technology

Through the framework of "Aichi Priority Research Project V"—an initiative promoted by Aichi Prefecture and the Aichi Science and Technology Foundation—we have successfully paved the way for the commercialization of our high-functional materials. At CES, the global epicenter of innovation, we aim to showcase our technological expertise and accelerate co-creation with aerospace and mobility companies in North America and beyond.

The centerpiece of our exhibit is an extraordinary ultra-lightweight material with a density of just 0.0005–0.01 g/cm³—so light it can effectively be considered lighter than air.

We have successfully overcome the flammability issues that have historically challenged ultra-lightweight materials. This innovation achieves both the high flame retardancy essential for aerospace applications and multi-functional properties, including electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, thermal insulation, and sound absorption.

Furthermore, by establishing advanced recycling technologies, we have ensured a sustainable product lifecycle. With the practical application of this groundbreaking material, we expect it to become a foundational platform material across all mobility domains—land, air, and space—with the following applications:

  • Aviation: Reduces aircraft weight by approximately 1 ton when used as insulation, improving fuel efficiency and extending flight range.
  • Spacecraft: Significantly lowers launch costs through advanced electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and thermal control for satellites.
  • Next-Gen Mobility: Balances passenger comfort with energy efficiency as a sound-absorbing and thermal insulation material for EVs and eVTOLs (flying cars).
